  1. Prevent chimney fires. “Every year, there are 3 – 5 chimney fires in QLD. Unfortunately some result in the house burning to the ground, so it is essential you get your chimney cleaned regularly”.
  2. There is a high demand for my chimney sweep services throughout winter. It can take up to 4-6 weeks for me to be able to come and clean your flue. In saying that, If you get your chimney swept in summer, I can normally clean your flue within a couple of days.”
  3. I have found that 1-in-4 wood heater flues I clean have not been installed properly or are broken. This means that your wood heater is likely unsafe, and a danger to your family, in the event of a chimney flue fire. You need to have your wood heater re-installed properly or repaired.

“Please be aware that most wood heater installers and repairers are always busiest throughout winter, so if your wood heater needs to be repaired you may have to wait up to 2 months to have it fixed.”

Reasons why your wood heater flues need to be cleaned and inspected yearly.

  1. Because you have no idea what type of wood your tenants or guests have been burning in your wood heater.
  2. Burning green timber which has not been dried out for at least 12 months
  3. If wet timber has been burnt in your wood heater it can cause high amounts of creosote and ash to build up in your wood heater chimney flue which can then lead to CHIMNEY FIRES.

Another reason why you should get your wood heater chimney flue Swept and inspected every 12 months is if your wood heater chimney flue has had a chimney FIRE.
It can often split the chimney flue and it is likely that your tenant is unaware or will not tell you.

When you use seasoned hardwood, wood heater flues only need to be swept every 2 years.
